Belknap Collection, Dance 1910-1959 : Ballet Russe.

Programs, press clippings, photographs, postcards and souvenir programs highlight this collection of the original Ballet Russe, founded in 1905 by Diaghilev to tour Europe. Included is a folder of notes on Col. Wassili deBasil who launched the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo along with ReneĢ Blum from 1941. In it the author makes detailed notes on individual dancers and performers, observations on how Russian dance differs from that of other countries, particularly America and Britain. There are also notes for a biography of deBasil.
